Year five at St Mary’s spent the day with the community learning centre team led by Steve and Jeanette. The children used stop motion animation to show the Easter story. The day’s project placed great emphasis on collaboration and attention to detail. They loved being able to get creative with the traditional story.

Mary Queen of Peace, Pray for Us - May 2017

In May during the Month of Our Lady, Year 5 led the diocesan May Procession and Good Shepherd Celebration at the Cathedral. It was a very special celebration especially considering that 2017 marks 100 years since Our Lady's apparitions at Fatima.

Here we honoured Mary as our Queen and Mother. We presented a wonderful liturgy about the various apparitions of Mary throughout the decades including her apparitions at Guadalupe, Lourdes, Knock and Fatima. We used drama, dance and songs to share the different messages of these apparitions.

We also prayed a decade of the Rosary and brought flowers in procession to honour Mary our Queen and Mother. We are so sure that Mary was delighted with the many roses of prayer which she received on this day of celebration. Mary Queen of Peace, Pray for us!

Children of the Eucharist September 2017

After a visit from Children of the Eucharist in September, we began our monthly programme of Eucharistic Adoration.

Our time in Adoration is very special. We welcome Jesus into our hearts, we offer prayers of intercession and we listen and respond to the Gospel. We ask Our Lady for her intercession.

During Adoration we also spend some time in silence so that we can speak with the Lord. When we spend time in Jesus' Eucharistic presence, we get to know him better and we become more like Him.

Eucharistic Adoration September 2017

The Eucharist is central to our school life here at St. Mary's.

As well as celebrating Holy Mass each week with our parish, we have exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in our school chapel every Monday and Friday. Throughout the day we are able to visit the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.

In doing so we come to know Him and love Him more. In doing so we are also learning who we are called to be as his beloved sons and daughters and coheirs to his Heavenly Kingdom.

Once a month our Prayer Leaders lead the part of the Eucharistic Holy Hour in church at 3pm. We begin by welcoming Jesus into our hearts. We offer prayers of intercession and sing a song of praise.
